Arts Education Gets a New Name

The Lloyd A. Fry Foundation, at its board and staff retreat in June, changed the name of our “Arts Education” program to be “Arts Learning.”

The Foundation views education in the arts to be as important as education in other academic subjects, but
we believe the nature of learning in the arts is different than that in other academic subjects. We feel the
updated name helps us make that distinction.

The Foundation made slight revisions last year to our guidelines in this program in order to communicate
more clearly our interest in access to high quality artistic products as part of rigorous arts curriculum. There
was no substantive change to our funding strategies or priorities at that time.  And we are making no
additional changes to the guidelines at this time.  Please see the Fry Foundation’s website,
FryFoundation.org, for more information about the Foundation’s funding programs and priorities.
